How can a new key fob be programmed for a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox?

Step 1: Get Inside Your Vehicle
 
You need to be inside your 2015 Chevrolet Equinox with all the doors closed and a new key fob ready to be programmed.

Step 2: Insert and Turn Key
 
Insert the existing key (that is already programmed) into the ignition. Turn the key to the "On" position but do not start the engine.

Step 3: Access the Programming Mode
 
Press the "Menu" button on the vehicle’s driver information center (DIC) until "Settings" is displayed. Navigate using the arrow buttons to find "Remote Key Learning Active." Press the "Set/Clr" button.

Step 4: Program the New Key Fob
 
Press and hold the "Lock" and "Unlock" buttons on the new key fob simultaneously. Hold them down until you hear the door locks cycle (lock and unlock). This usually takes about 15-20 seconds. This indicates the key fob has been successfully programmed.

Step 5: Turn Off the Ignition
 
Turn the ignition to the "Off" position and remove the key. The system will exit the programming mode.

Step 6: Test the Key Fob
 
Test the new key fob by pressing the "Lock" and "Unlock" buttons to ensure it’s working properly. The doors should lock and unlock indicating that the key fob is programmed correctly.

If you have additional key fobs to program, repeat step 4 for each new key fob before turning off the ignition. Up to eight key fobs can be programmed to your vehicle.
