How can the Teen Driver mode be set up and customized on a 2021 Chevrolet Equinox?

Access the Teen Driver Feature

1. Start by entering your 2021 Chevrolet Equinox and turning on the ignition.
2. On the infotainment system, press the Home button to get to the main menu.
3. Select the Settings icon from the available options.
4. In the settings menu, choose Vehicle to enter the vehicle settings options.
5. Now select Teen Driver from the list of vehicle settings.

Set Up a Teen Driver Key

1. If you haven't done so already, you'll need to create a PIN. This PIN will allow you to manage the Teen Driver settings in the future.
2. After entering your PIN, you'll need to register a specific key fob to be the Teen Driver key. Follow the on-screen prompts to pair the key fob. Make sure the key fob is inside the vehicle during this process.

Customize Teen Driver Settings

1. Once you’ve registered a key fob, you can customize the Teen Driver settings to suit your needs. These settings will only be active when the Teen Driver key fob is used to start the vehicle.
2. Select Teen Driver Settings on the menu. Here, you can customize a variety of settings including:
• Speed Warning Limit: Set a speed limit that, when exceeded, triggers a visual and audible warning.
• Volume Limit: Set a maximum volume limit for the audio system, so it cannot be turned up too loudly.
• Seat Belt Audio Mute: Enable this setting to mute the audio system until the driver and front passenger seat belts are fastened.
• Report Card: Review a driving report card to monitor the distance driven, maximum speed, overspeed warnings, and other driving behaviors. This data is only accessible when using the PIN.
3. After making your selections, save the settings by following the on-screen prompts.

Monitor and Review Driving Behavior

1. Whenever the Teen Driver key is used, the vehicle tracks various driving behaviors and compiles them into a report card.
2. To view the report card, go to the Teen Driver menu and select Report Card. Enter your PIN to access the report.
3. The report card provides insights on the total distance driven, the maximum speed reached, the number of overspeed warnings, and other relevant data.

Deactivate Teen Driver Mode

1. If you wish to deactivate the Teen Driver mode, go back to the Teen Driver settings menu.
2. Select the option to Clear PIN and Keys. Confirm your choice to remove the Teen Driver settings and delete the registered key fob from the system.
