Gather Necessary Tools and Materials

New engine air filter
Flathead screwdriver
Microfiber cloth or rag

Locate the Air Filter Housing

Open the hood of your 2017 Ford Escape and secure it with the prop rod.
The air filter housing is typically a rectangular or square black plastic box located near the top of the engine compartment, usually on the driver's side.

Remove the Housing Cover
