Preparation

• Gather all necessary tools and equipment, including a jack, jack stands, a lug wrench, a C-clamp, brake cleaner, and a new set of brake pads specific for the 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
• Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface, with the parking brake engaged and the ignition off.
• Loosen the lug nuts on the wheels where you will change the brake pads.

Lift the Vehicle

• Use the jack to lift the car until the wheel is off the ground and place it securely on jack stands.
• Completely remove the loosened lug nuts and take the wheels off the vehicle to expose the brake system.

Remove the Caliper

• Locate the brake caliper and remove the bolts securing it to the caliper bracket with a wrench or socket set.
• Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor. Use a piece of wire or a bungee cord to hang the caliper from the suspension, preventing stress on the brake line.

Remove the Old Brake Pads

• Once the caliper is off, you will see the old brake pads. Remove the retaining clips and slide the old pads out.
• Inspect the brake rotors for any deep grooves or signs of damage. If needed, have the rotors resurfaced or replaced.

Install the New Brake Pads

• Before placing the new pads, use a C-clamp to push the caliper piston back into the caliper. This creates space for the new, thicker brake pads.
• Place the new brake pads into the caliper bracket and ensure they are seated properly with the retaining clips.

Reinstall the Caliper

• Lower the caliper back over the new brake pads and onto the caliper bracket.
• Secure the caliper with the mounting bolts, tightening them to the manufacturer's specified torque.

Reassemble the Wheel

• Place the wheel back onto the hub and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
• Remove the jack stands and lower the vehicle back onto the ground.
• Tighten the lug nuts fully in a criss-cross pattern for even pressure distribution.

Final Steps

• Before driving, pump the brake pedal several times to ensure the brake pads are seated and the brake pedal feels firm.
• Check the brake fluid level and top it off if necessary.
• Test drive the vehicle at a low speed to ensure the brakes are functioning properly without any unusual noise or vibrations.
