Locate the Release Button
The first step to replace the battery in your 2019 Audi A4 key fob is to locate the release button that allows you to access the battery compartment. Look at the backside of the key fob, and you should find a small release button that is used to remove the key cover. Press this button to remove the physical key from the fob.
Separate the Key Fob
Once the physical key is removed, use a small flathead screwdriver to gently pry open the key fob. You can insert the screwdriver into the small slot that is now visible after removing the key. Carefully twist or rotate the screwdriver to open the case, being mindful not to damage the plastic components.
Remove the Old Battery
With the key fob open, you will see the old CR2032 battery. Take note of the orientation of the battery, typically with the positive side (+) facing upwards. Use your fingers or the small screwdriver to gently remove the old battery from its compartment.
Insert the New Battery
Take a new CR2032 battery and place it into the battery compartment, ensuring it is in the same orientation as the old one—the positive side should be facing up. Ensure the battery is seated properly in its compartment within the fob.
Reassemble the Key Fob
After inserting the new battery, snap the two halves of the key fob back together. There should be a noticeable click or snap indicating the fob is properly closed. Make sure that there are no gaps along the edges of the fob, and it is securely shut.
Test the Key Fob
Once reassembled, it's a good idea to test the key fob to ensure the new battery is functioning correctly. Try locking and unlocking your Audi A4 with the fob to confirm it is in working order. If the key fob does not function, re-open the fob to check the battery’s placement and confirm it's inserted with the correct orientation.
Proper Disposal of the Old Battery
Dispose of the old battery appropriately, following local regulations for battery disposal. Many electronic stores and recycling centers accept used batteries and can dispose of them safely.
