Gather the Necessary Tools and Materials
 

• Replacement headlight bulb (verify the correct part number for low or high beam)
• Pair of gloves to prevent oil or dirt transfer to the bulb
• Screwdriver set (if necessary)
• Owner's manual for reference

 
Ensure Safety Precautions
 

• Turn off the ignition and remove the key from the ignition switch.
• Ensure the car is on a flat surface, and engage the parking brake.
• If the engine was recently running, let it cool down to avoid burns.

 
Open the Hood
 

• Locate the hood release lever inside your car, typically located on the lower side of your dashboard.
• Pull the lever until you hear the hood 'pop'.
• Exit the vehicle, go to the front, and reach under the hood to find the latch. Release it to open the hood fully.
• Use the hood prop rod to keep the hood safely open.

 
Access the Headlight Assembly
 

• Identify the rear side of the headlight assembly inside the engine bay.
• If necessary, remove any obstructing components per the owner's manual instructions to access the headlight assembly, such as covers, air filters, or retaining clips.

 
Remove the Old Bulb
 

• Identify the bulb socket at the back of the headlight assembly. It usually has a wiring harness attached.
• Rotate the bulb socket counterclockwise to release it from the headlight assembly. Some models may have tabs or additional fasteners to press or remove.
• Carefully detach the bulb from the wiring harness connector. If it's difficult to disconnect, gently wiggle the connection while pulling.

 
Install the New Bulb
 

• Hold the new bulb by its base, avoiding direct contact with the glass to prevent oil transfer, which can shorten the bulb life.
• Attach the new bulb to the wiring harness connector securely.
• Insert the bulb and connector back into the headlight assembly, and rotate it clockwise until it locks into place.

 
Reassemble Components
 

• If you removed any covers or components, reinstall them in the reverse order they were taken off.
• Check to ensure everything is securely fastened and properly in place.

 
Test the New Headlight Bulb
 

• Close the hood carefully and securely.
• Turn your vehicle’s ignition to the accessory position or start the engine.
• Switch on the headlights to verify the new bulb is functioning correctly.
