• If your vehicle comes with a BMW ConnectedDrive subscription, make sure it's active and your vehicle has a strong data signal for online updates.

 
Downloading the Update
 

• Visit the official BMW website on your computer, preferably in the section dedicated to your region or country.
• Navigate to the “Software Update” section or search for map updates for the 2022 BMW 3 Series.
• Log in to your BMW account, linked to your vehicle’s VIN.
• Download the latest map updates for your model.
• Transfer the downloaded update files to your prepared USB drive.

 
Installing the Update via USB
 

• Insert the USB drive into the USB port of your 2022 BMW 3 Series.
• Turn on the iDrive system, and you should receive a prompt that a new map update has been detected.
• Follow the on-screen instructions to proceed with the map update installation.
• Allow the update to install fully. The vehicle must remain in "ignition on" mode, though driving during the update is usually permissible.

 
Online Update Option
 

• If applicable, check whether your vehicle supports OTA (Over-The-Air) updates.
• Navigate to the iDrive "Settings" menu and select "Software Update" to check for available updates.
• If a new version is available, follow the instructions on-screen to download and install the maps update over the vehicle's network connection.

 
Verifying the Update
